Choose Wisely.

choice

It is in our decisions that we do or undo our progress.

No one else is in our mind when we have the daily

battle starting with getting up and starting the day.

We are about to start a new year and while I totally

believe that we can make a new beginning in a moment

many choose to use the beginning of the year as a book-end.

Nothing wrong with that but make sure you have a plan.

Make sure your goals are clear and specific.

Make sure you are making the tough decisions.

Let’s pay the price now and enjoy the results later.

Another B’ Day.

 

My Beautiful Wife And I Enjoying An Afternoon Beach Walk In Ensenada, Baja Mexico.

Today is my Birthday and I am so happy to

have a chance to celebrate with my lovely

and extremely patient wife Amythest.

There will not be any candles on my cake

as we do not want to have the fire department

come and visit again.

All joking aside, I am thankful to my dear God

for all of the many blessings in my life.

Grateful for the ones that choose to be around

and more grateful for the ones that choose to

bless us by keeping their distance.

Every Now And Then.

IMG_1102While I am all for going forth and taking

any and all the necessary extra steps, I also

believe that we should take any breaks and stops

needed for us to remain sane and centered.

To be successful full effort and commitment

should be put forth but attention should be paid

so we do not destroy by over-doing.

Take a break every now and then.

Go somewhere and enjoy something.

To me there is no better place than the beach,

and no better time than sunset. Talk about a magic

cleansing moment. Perspective I guess.

California In My Mind

I have been feeling itchy feet the past couple of weeks.

Even though I am currently traveling I feel like it is not

far enough, interesting enough, good enough.

I miss California today. It is there where I can have

good Mexican food for breakfast and pick up sushi, good,

good sushi at the grocery store and then later hit the Pho

joint for dinner.

I am in a part of the country where the flavors and the traditions

are supposed to be great but I still find the food wanting.

Hot, Spicy regardless is no great achievement. (sorry)

While we have found great people in our travels food is still

below what I have found in rural areas of Mexico, Guatemala

OR Belize. Traveling through New Mexico has been challenging

for my food writing. While I have tried many a restaurant that

the locals recommend I have found ONE item I truly liked.

I am sure it is ME where the problem is and all the food is

“just amazing.”

Gang if you have a chance to get out-of-town DO IT.

Step outside and see what you can find. What you have been missing.

It is always a good thing to go out searching and exploring.

Even bad experiences are worth it in the big scheme of things.

And while you are out there keep your eyes open and see if

you can find someone to help.

Give a hand, Give a coin, Give someone

a bite to eat. Don’t wait to be asked.

I am breaking up with the cold.

I just can not wait for the days of sun

I just want to walk on the beach.

I could not care less about other things.

Come And Enjoy The Water!

Recently we have talked about goal setting.

Have you added some travel to your goals??

In our planning calendar I have been told

there is a cruise to Mexico. There is a trip

to Texas (Austin for some big to do SXSW)

Hell I would have gone for the BBQ at Franklin

BBQ and would have enjoyed waiting in line.

Also the possibility of spending some time

in Seattle (Comme to Papa Clam Chowder)

I am looking forward to many great walks

and maybe a few good pictures. The one that

I am featuring on this blog was taken at

Little Corona in Corona Del Mar, CA

One of the most amazing places I have

been to.

I guess what I am trying to say is: Get after it

Yes we want to lose the weight but we have

a life to live as well.

Gang I hope your plans and goals are solid

and important enough for you to have put

them on paper and ever-present.

Thinking Of Nassau.

This picture was taken in Nassau

on my last trip there. Today my toes

feel frozen and I find myself  wishing

with all my heart I was there.

I am sure my wife will get a kick from

this pic. I had been there before but she

had not and she had an amazing time.

We are at a time of the year when many

make goals and plans and me being one

that has traveled extensively have one

humble piece of advice for you all.

Put it in your plans. Make it a goal

and get some miles behind you and

some stamps on your passport.

This are memories that remain

and it is all worth it.

I wish I was feeling the breeze in

San Juan. Feeling the sun in Barbados.

Having a beer in Charleston. Eating

Sea Ray in Puerto Penasco or ceviche in

Mazatlan. Notice the pattern??? Warm,

very warm places.

Personal Change.

As we plan our goals for the year 2018

let us not forget that the battle IS NOT

to be better than others but to be a better

version of our previous selves from yesterdays.

The true battle if to figure out our weak areas.

Finding where the work is most needed is

a triumph in and by itself.

Winning is and should be about winning over

our weak and flawed selves. There is where

lasting change and triumphs lay.

I wish you all the success possible as this year

ends and the new year starts.

Finally found the Coca Cola Bottle

with my name.

It was on a bill-board in Tijuana, Mexico

We had a great trip and while exploring lost

there it was just waiting for me.

We had been looking or one for a long time

and could not find it.

I know it might sound silly to some but

in the way we live it is important because

my wife, kids and I live life in our own terms.

We go get lost on purpose and explore away.

Yes keeping the weight loss in mind but

at the same time enjoying life and all of

the little things that come our way.

Life is good but then again life is

what we make of it.

some travel plans to your goals.

I hope truly that you are planning on going places.

going to new and different places.

Plans, Goals

directionsSo let me ask you something

How are your plans and goals doing?

Are you making progress?

Did you included plans for travel this year?

I hope you did. I have found travel transformational

for me. I have learned a lot about others but more

importantly about myself thanks to traveling.

The most popular goal at the start of the year is

weight loss and the second one is more money both

very important but we are a lot more than just

skinny and rich. How do we live? how do we grow?

Traveling is so very important.  So very relevant.

That has been my experience something that truly

inspires me.

Have you thought about walking the streets of Paris?

Sit at a plaza in Madrid? Drink coffee by a fountain in

Rome? Have a pint in Ireland? Hell go to the Grand Canyon

or walk the beach in Oceanside, visit El Alamo, take a long

look at The Rocky Mountains.

Gang just do something and go somewhere.

Dream it, plan it, book it, do it. You will never regret it.

Places To Go

Is there a place that you would like to go to?

Mexico is our first choice but there are many

others that we like and would like to go to.

I still think that Barbados is the most

AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL

place in the world and I can not wait till I go back.

It seems Hawaii will be first but truly that is NOT

my option or decision.  But I digress..

We all have dreams, wants and hopes and I would

like to have you please bring those things to the

front and center and start planning. Start thinking

of ways you can make those dreams and hopes a

great reality.

I am so glad that I was able to go to Canada, The Caribbean,

Cuba, Guatemala, Belize, and every state both in Mexico

and the United States. It has made me a different person.

Yes I want to lose weight and I do want to be healthy

but also I want for my life to say something about who

I am and what I have done.

We have the ability to make a difference in the lives of

many others if we just stop thinking and acting like we

are isolated islands.

I truly dislike the term “Giving Back” I have taken SHIT

from anyone but I choose to give. I want to give but

I am not giving back.  Do not feel guilty for your

success and ride it as hard as you can and give and

help others from a position of strength and power.

No one can give from an empty cup.

Gang keep pushing forward while you

stay focus and remain successful.

You want Sushi it is waiting just around the corner

and, if you want rather large frozen alcoholic drinks

guess what?? it is just around the corner as well.

As you can see there is more than enough reasons

to visit this place.  Charleston, SC.

And let me tell you there is more, much more.

Why am I telling you this?? Well it is almost the

end of the year and as you make your plans for 2017

you should absolutely add some living to those plans.

Yes, make sure your weight loss and work out plans are front and center

but do not forget the purpose of being healthy is to

enjoy a longer and more vibrant life.

The Texture Of My Xmas.

Some Christmas’s ago My mother passed on

Since them my favorite holiday of the year

has changed some. I am still happy and enjoy

the taste and smell and colors of Christmas

but the texture has changed.

Now I feel the harsh reality of the loss of my mother.

Now I feel the empty space she has left behind her.

I feel the cold void that her personality and attitude

left after her passing.  Nothing can replace that.

I love christmas regardless but I miss my mother

terribly.  Today as I bask on my memories I hurt and

find solace in the many memories and special

moments. She was not perfect…. She was just Mom.

This Iguana got what I want for Xmas

A pair of white Chuck Taylors.

This Iguana has good taste

OK gang time for  those lists to come out again.

I have sent my list by certified mail to

Santa at the North Pole and I have asked

for a pair of White Chuck Taylors and

a box of Earl Gray Tea. Since he did not deliver

my date with Adele last Christmas season I fully

expect for him to deliver this year.

Gang all joking aside do not forget to show

those that you love how important and

relevant they are and not only during the

holiday season but all the time. We do not know

when our last day will be so make every single

one count.

I hope and pray this holiday season finds

you happy and content and if you have not yet

written you letter to the Jolly Big Guy in red please

remind him of my Chuck Taylors.
