Quality Of Life.

funny how

Yes it does.

The thing is that we, many a time keep around us people who

have no business being there.  People who fulfilled their

role in our lives, and who now should be on to other things.

But NO we insist on collecting people.

Gang life is a continually moving target and in order to

even try to keep up we must be ever alert to it.

We must be in constant guard with the three A’s of

Bushido in mind: Alert, Assess and Act.

Alert to what is around us.

Assess what is around us.

Act based on what is around us.

The act part is what gives most the hardest time.

We know what to do or what not to do but we many a time

choose with our inactivity.

We want it so now we must learn how to go after it.

We must learn how to remove obstacles even if they have a pulse.

It is our life, lets live it to its fullest.

Temptations Come

DSC_0516

At the beach in Rosarito, Baja Mexico

Snacks on wheels.

Yes this is at the beach in Mexico.

If I am at home in Rocky Point or if I am at home in Rosarito

in Baja this candy store on wheels comes directly to you, on the

beach, with all kind of sweet or salty or spicy or any combination

of the three flavors that you can think of.

So if you like me like to get up early and go for a walk on the

beach before your morning coffee to get you started,

avoid this guys not because they are evil but because they

have all the temptations on one supped-up wheel barrow.

All joking aside we must be aware as best as we know of what

is waiting for us outside our door. I know that while in Mexico

I must be aware of the bakery shops. They use Crack in their stuff..

No they don’t but who can say no to a “concha” or an “oreja”, when

you have a great cup of coffee on hand and a whole empty hand

just begging for you to grab a piece of bread or two.

So I go for my walk and immediately take my happy butt back home

and have a good breakfast, then I can contend with the street vendors

and the bakery shop mafia.

The more we know and the better prepared we are the better our

chances for success.

Guys do not forget just how much we have to do to burn 100 calories

Don’t mess it up with empty food or useless fluids. Make every calorie count.

Chest Workout.

chest workout

And now a little big attention to the “Chestal” area.

Yes I know that Chestal is not a real word but is sounds FUNNY.

This is a basic set up and excellent in my humble opinion

example of a routine for beginners.

If you are a bit more experienced you then know how to

“Doctor” this moves and exercises to work better based

on your wants needs and experience.

With this and with all new exercises please ask help and

guidance until you can master them.

This is one routine that will send you home happy.

I have to admit that I continue to be challenged by my

Leg Day. I do it to the best of my abilities but I can not

remember a single time I actually enjoyed it. If anyone has

a routine for Leg Day that you think is great please share

because that is the one that I hear the most gripping about.

Gang keep up the good work and remember that  all that

you do for a better you, benefits you but also your friends

Helping The Excercise.

20150403_200553

All the exercise in the world is wasted if we do not eat the right foods.

Every one should know what food and items are the ones that affect us

the most and for some of us, the solutions are not as clear.

I tried many different approaches before getting my Lap-Band.

I am proof that ALL Diets Work if only for a little while.

For me it is Low Carb, Low Fat, Low Sodium and it is good because

I do no crave sweets and I do love meat and seafood.

I enjoy walking and working out but, I enjoy eating even more.

I truly enjoy fish and grilled meats so it is lucky me, but if you like and

enjoy other foods then you must learn about portions and nutrient

density. Not all foods are created equally so the more we know the

better our decisions can be.

Keep learning, keep looking at your self and the results that come out

of your efforts, and every day you will be better and your results will be

more permanent. That is after all what we all want right???

Have fun with food, try new things, go to a restaurant you have never

been to. My last memorable restaurant experience happened  actually

years ago at a Texas Road House in Gilbert, AZ I think. I shared a meal

and even that I could not finish. It was a strange meal. It was a strange day.

I had a taste of chicken and a taste of ribs and a glass of water.

Enjoy the process but also enjoy the food and your meals.

It is all part of the process.

Expectations.

I hate it whenWe must decide what it is that we want, and once we do that

take the steps to accomplish it. Not any easier but clearer.

We live in an “Immediate satisfaction” society that has no patience

for planning, and organizing but even less for consistent

on-going daily work.

WE, however understand that our commitment, planning,

and consistent work will provide us the success needed to

support the next round of battles.

Gang, we know that it is not the easy but the consistency where

the success lies.

Let us keep going so that we might continue to be examples

to those observing us, those wanting to attain some of the

same success nectar. Continue to be an example.

Continue to put the work needed.

Let us all continue to make progress, daily progress.

Thoughts Of My Mother.

Dona nohemi manos 2

Just a few years ago my Mother passed.

She was an astute and very smart person.

We had the longest conversations as we traveled

by train from the border town of Nogales all

the way to Guadalajara. She had an extensive

knowledge of Theology and baseball stats that

I am yet to find on anyone else.

She would challenge me with questions not

about religion but about God and faith.

She did not much care for any particular

religion but she was none the less a strong

believer.

Tomorrow would have been her birthday and

I find myself missing her quite a bit.

Maybe because I mentioned her a lot on my

new cook book or just because I miss her words.

We do not have all the time we want or that we

will need so in the here and now let’s do what

we can and live and try to live better every day.

Today. I pray for my mother.

About Believing.

champions believeI have a friend. She is one of those persons

that can inspire even the worst of cases.

She however, is unable to see in herself

all of the strength and inspiration that

she gives so many of us.

I wish I could say that I always see the

possibilities and opportunities but I have to

admit that many a time I too fall short in

noticing the good. Admiring the great.

Enjoying the amazing and forgetting the

shortcomings of those I expected SOMETHING,

ANYTHING from. After all it was my fault.,

it was I who bestowed upon them character,

compassion, values, and characteristics

they did not posses.

Go Figure.. I guess I was WRONG.

Reality Kick In The Gutttt.

DSC_0429

This is a picture of a while back.

It is me at the beach with the daughters

of a lady friend. The little one Savannah

reminded me on that day why I needed to lose

weight on a hurry. Gang., I could barely keep up

with her and the reason is clear as you look at the

picture.  Between health, economic and other issues

I had once again ballooned in weight and could

hardly do anything.

Things have changed some and next time I will

be better prepared for her.

Reasons. We all have them and we also have

excuses so figure out what is important to you

and go forward with it.

Exercising and dieting are not things that happen

naturally or organically. You have to effect change in

your schedule and routine in order to make it happen.

So I now ask you: How important is this for you?

Your actions not your words will show your commitment.

Working on a better tomorrow see you then.

The Difference Of 1/2 A Pound.

half a pound

“Just 1/2 a pound.”

We at times seem to forget the power of compounding.

Darren Hardy the publisher of Success Magazine wrote the

amazing book “The Compound Effect” a book that I always recommend

to people going through a hard time accomplishing stuff in general.

this book is quite the handbook for change and accountability.

One 1/2 of a pound is a very significant amount of progress and

if you can manage to loose it consistently you are so far ahead few

will catch up with you.

All progress is significant and all progress is good.

Do not let small steps discourage you., instead push to make those

small steps the foundation of your major changes and accomplishments.

If you want to learn more about the book from Darren Hardy

The Compound Effect follow the link to my Kit.com page

and look at that and other books that will push you past

the real and made up limitations that we all have at times.

Wishing you lots of consistency and accomplishments.

Reality of Pain.

fb_img_1445305804932For some of us the living in pain is a daily reality.

For me between the fibromyalgia or my

5L Parss Deffect or my damaged knee.

It is a reality and when trying to get help

we must add insult to the injury (pain).

My pain specialist Dr. Suttera has been

truly a God-Sent as he has worked with me

on a progressive plan that has given me

some relief.

It has been a long way of trial and error

with many meds until the right combination

was found.

Recently, however while out of state I had to

deal with the ignorance and over reach of

“Medical Professionals” who use their personal

bias to judge instead of their training to treat.

Anyway….. It was my back pain what finally

made me look for help and start on the long

road of weight loss and it has been precisely that

which has helped me the most.

I offer that if you are in pain or your blood

pressure or cholesterol are out of whack

stay with the plan. If you have a lap-band®

make use of it and the resources that should

have come with it.

Gang keep working on your own health

Stay focus and remain healthy and successful.

The Meds In Our Days.

Pills

I know very well that I have to take certain meds

every single day. At very specific times.

I know that I need them.

But What to do when for whatever reason we

are unable to take them. What to do when

the pain hits and you are unable to function.

If you are depressed or dealing with fibro

with out your meds you might as well

just sit and breath as there is not much else

you can do. I KNOW.

There are many reason why we at times are

unable to take our meds as prescribed and

we must avoid that by any means but when it

happens try to have a plan B even if it is just

to howl at the moon in a therapeutic fashion.

or fantasize about inflicting the same pain

on some one who has not kept their promises.

Hope you never go through putting up with pain

because of lack of meds… It Sucks

If you use lyrica or Cymbalta like I do you know

how severe the withdrawals are if you do not

follow the prescribed times.

I guess I am just venting and letting my own

body know that we still have more battles to

fight in the future. All in all pains and all

I am grateful to be alive today.

I wish you all a great one today and always.

On Fear.

Screenshot_2015-10-26-21-27-52-1When it comes to weight loss there are always

ups and downs. It is a known fact for those of us

that have gone through Weight Loss Surgery or

the more common term “Lap Band Surgery”

that our bodies will react differently at different times.

There are times when regardless of us following

the rules to a T we do not lose an ounce and,

at times we get on the scale more in jest than

expecting any weight loss and are floored by

the number on the scale.

While at times we will be unable to follow our diet

for a variety of reasons we must ALWAYS

keep our dreams and goals in mind.

Gang it is our life and our health., let’s make

the most of it.

Weigh the food, drink the water, take your meds,

don’t forget your vitamins. Do What You Know

Is Expected Of You and the results will show up.

Let’s continue with this project we have set for us

and know that I am here as a resource should you

ever need it.

Fearing The Choices.

Screenshot_2015-10-26-21-27-52-1.pngWe touch on choice and fear again.

Fear can provide motivation. A desire to either avoid

or attack some issues.

As I got on the scale today I noticed a gain of one pound

and I must say it got me all worked up so much that

I failed to realize that I had changed my routine.

I waited until after breakfast and coffee to weigh myself

Reality is that I have probably lost some weight and I

would have noticed it had I kept to the routine.

That is how Fear at times works on us. It brings out the

irrational, the stupid and dumb out of us.

Do not fear change. Do not fear new things.

Do not cook bacon naked either so I guess do not

be foolish. Measure your steps be cautious but not so

cautious that you never try new things.

How long ago was it that you changed your walking route?

Since when have you not changed your work-out routine?

Does your diet plan needs some updating?

Change can be a good thing if it is a controlled and planned thing.

Gang get in control of your life and your goals but specially

get in control of your fears.

Monday

11715e2cef78e0416ee46ecb65cc9855.jpg

I hope you enjoyed the Monday Humor.

I was thinking and I think I have lost about 1,450 pounds

YES.. Since I started trying to loose the weight I must have lost

that much and maybe some more that I do not remember.

We loose and we gain it back. We loose and we get some back.

I m sure that I am the only one with this problem so all the rest

of you just sit down and enjoy the ride.

I have learned that not having a clear goal and not having a

very specific why has been at many time the reason behind the

YO-YO effect. I noticed that once I started working with a coach

my results improved dramatically. BUT as some of you know

I have been battling some serious illnesses and (BS) other things.

Gang… There will always be reasons and excuses but there is

one and only one reason that would keep us from failing.

The trick is that we must find it within us on our own.

No one can come and give us the key. What is important to me

is garbage to others and what is important to others is of little

or no consequence to me.

Every week at some point I work on finding the why and also

on keeping the why ever present.  Gang.. It is that important.

I hope that you have found your why and if you have not well

it is Monday and it is a great day for you to start on that project.

You must get to know YOU. You must learn to Love YOU.
