Working On Me.

body under constructionIs it just me or, at times it seems harder to convince

our minds to get a “Move On” that it is for our bodies

to feel ready and up to it.

I noticed on my last visit to the gym that my mind

tried all the way through my work out to convince me

with many rather creative arguments that we should

just pack it up and go back home.

I am telling you all that I have long tiring arguments

about religion, politics and history and never have I

encountered a more determined adversary than

my own mind.

Quite a learning experience and I used a technique

an old trainer of mine thought me back in Mexico when

I was into competitive weight lifting.

He said “Win one battle at a time., first get up then

get out after that just get to the gym., Then is when it

will get interesting he said. One routine after another

and then and only then when you are done you can agree

with your reluctant mind and go home.

Never forget that every battle counts and you should fight

to the end and never ever give up because also, every

time you loose the battle it counts., it counts against you.

Nothing but winners here so gang let’s keep on keeping on.

For those of us on this race we know that we

are trying to live life to the fullest and

the least of our thoughts is to have a

better today and tomorrow than our

yesterdays.

It is clear that weight loss helps improves

the quality of life.

I have all this dreams and desires that I want

to see come to pass and because

I might  or not have the time and health

I want to make the most of every day.

Keep the basics in mind every day

measure your portions, drink the water,

increase the activity, plan your exercise.

We know what we need to do so now let’s

go and do it.

Excercise and activity must be part of the equation.

It is not about having the time as it is to make the time.

It is worth it… You are worth it so shut the heck up

and go make some shit happen.

Training For More

1a4e5dd94985fb6ddc2537f4c43e5c3dI used to run when I was younger. Yes it has been a long time ago.

I have been chewing on getting back to it.  at 52 I do not know

if it is such a great idea but I would like to give it a try.

Should you have an interest in starting a running phase in your

weight loss journey here is a beginners program that might be

helpful to both you and me.

Gang do not be afraid to set new and even more daring goals.

Go for the gold and push yourself further than before.

SUCCESS STARTS WITH A VISION!!

We have talked about goals and vision before but I want to once again touch on the importance of starting with the end in mind as Steven Covey told us so many times.

What is it that we want? What is it that we are looking for?
What is that image or picture of ourselves that we have in our mind?

If we can not conjure in a moment what it is that we are working for the chances of us reaching it will be improbable, unlikely.

Mr. Eric Thomas tells a tale of someone who wants to be successful and he trough the tale makes it clear that in order to get there he must want it more badly than wanting to breath while under water.

That is wanting it pretty darn bad.

Clarity of purpose gives us the certainty needed to accomplish a well defined goal. But.. In order to have a clear and well defined goal we must first have a vision.

My vision is at this point a cholesterol level of less than 100. A blood pressure that can not be used to inflate small balls. A weight range of 190 to 210 pounds. And the image is my size of pants of when I was a single man 32 x 30. Not perfect but perfect for me.

That is what I use as my vision. That and a new pair of pants that hang on the door for me.

I will wear them for my birthday next year. I will wear them when I go to a show and dinner in Vegas. That I know.

Find your vision. Keep it ever present and do not let go of it.

Realize that being afraid of something

is not the end but the beginning of something.

Deciding that we want something that bad

and going after it wholeheartedly.

There are so many unknowns and

just so much out there for us to do.

When was the last time you went out

on a romantic date with someone new?

I am unable to remember.

When was the last time you tried a

new dish or prepared a new salad?

What was the most exciting breakfast food

you have had in the last month? Year?

When was the last time you actually got excited

about a new pair of shoes, tie or dress?

We are creatures of habits and knowing that

we must try to step out of the routine and

keep our meals, workouts, interactions and

YES our life exciting. Interesting.

We have one life and it is short

at is longest. We are working on our

health, weight, diet, longevity well let’s

make it count. Let’s enjoy this life of ours.

I don’t know what would do it for you but

for me a long ride on a motorcycle would

be as good as therapy eating chocolate cake.

Find one or ten things that excite you and

go do one or two or all of them.

Go live. Go enjoy.

What inspires you to keep working

on your weight loss and exercise program?

I do it for myself yes but I also do it

for my family and my ferrets.

We own three Ferrets

Peter, Rascal and The Bear.

Yes we have Three four-legged kids and

Three two-legged kids and every day

they give me/us reasons to keep on with

our plans and goals.

I do not know what your reasons are but

I hope you know and are clear on your “Why”

because once that is clear the “HOW” becomes

easier.

We are on the last leg of the year so I hope your

goals and plans for 2016 have been successful

and I hope that you have your goals and plans

for the year 2017 set and ready to go.

We can not hit a target that does not exists.
