We all know that one without the other negates some results.
Because we are all different we must find what works for each
and every one of us.
I personally follow a low carbs, low-fat, low sodium, high protein diet.
That said it does not mean that I do not
eat vegetables. I don’t much care for fruit but vegetables
I do enjoy. I like a fresh salsa with my chicken and meats.
I like mashed cauliflower with most anything.
I like spinach made the Greek way cooked in olive oil
with tomato and onions.
The great thing about my diet is that I can eat larger
quantities while I am dealing with my dislodged
gastric band.
You can find recipes for salsas you can use to
spice and give variety to your meals in my book
“El Sabor De Mi Mexico” for sale at Amazon.
I am working on a free sale for that book as
I want to give you all a copy of it.

As some of you know I have been dealing with a dislodged
band for quite a bit of time.
I have tried to work around the challenge that this is but I know
that having the ability to eat with out the limiting that the band
provides has been key to my weight re-gain.
Part of my process now is to go back to eating the smaller
portions as the program delineates but it is here where I can feel
the difference that the band makes. A portion that would have made
me feel full with the band properly attached does not have the same
effect without it. I end up feeling hungry and not satisfied wanting
more to eat.
This post is just to advise you that not following the guidelines can
create a situation where you lose all the benefits of the band.
That extra portion or those carbonated beverages are just not
worth it. I know I am living with it.

Slippage happens. It has happen to me.
Actually I have been dealing
with this for months now.
I was lucky in that my band slippage did not affect my ability to
drink liquids or consume food.
It slipped up and it is now riding a top my stomach.
I tried to get information and help from my regular source but
this time it did not work. Insurance companies if you have one
are continually making it more and more difficult for us
to get or correct issues with a lap band.
I was summarily dismissed with a comment of
most surgeons are now converting them to
gastric bypass. So Back to square one.
I did something that I strongly urge everyone not to do on your own..
I made my liquid go away. No more details.
I do not want to give anyone any ideas and then I am to blame.
After my fluid/liquid/stuffing went away I was able to eat
with very little restriction and I killed all of my progress.
As of now being unable to correct/fix/change my situation
with my Realize® band
I have gone back to the diet that worked best for me.
Low Carb, Low Fat, Low Sodium.
With this I have noticed that the scale has begun to
move in my favor.
Gang., stuff happens and we must
do the best we can with what we have.
Let me tell you my acute back pain is an inspiration.
My low stamina is an inspiration.
I want a better life so here we go again.
I will continue to look for a solution to my problem but
thus far it seem the only one is going to Mexico
and having a corrective surgery done there. I will keep you posted.
Please understand that I am not suggesting or in any way saying
that you should do as I am or will do. This is me and this is my
options and choices you use yours when it comes to this.
In the mean time Let’s keep the enthusiasm up
and keep fighting the good fight.

I know very well that I have to take certain meds
every single day. At very specific times.
I know that I need them.
But What to do when for whatever reason we
are unable to take them. What to do when
the pain hits and you are unable to function.
If you are depressed or dealing with fibro
with out your meds you might as well
just sit and breath as there is not much else
you can do. I KNOW.
There are many reason why we at times are
unable to take our meds as prescribed and
we must avoid that by any means but when it
happens try to have a plan B even if it is just
to howl at the moon in a therapeutic fashion.
or fantasize about inflicting the same pain
on some one who has not kept their promises.
Hope you never go through putting up with pain
because of lack of meds… It Sucks
If you use lyrica or Cymbalta like I do you know
how severe the withdrawals are if you do not
follow the prescribed times.
I guess I am just venting and letting my own
body know that we still have more battles to
fight in the future. All in all pains and all
I am grateful to be alive today.
I wish you all a great one today and always.

With a lap band or a Realize Band there
is a risk of slippage. I mention the two brands
because what we must understand it that it is
seldom if ever the fault of the band or company
when slippage happens. It is either the surgeons
error or the users abuse.
Regardless.. It happens. It happened to me.
Something I want to mention to you all is
that when it happens you must immediately
seek help and guidance from your surgeon/pcp.
If you are able like I am to consume foods and liquids
keep in mind that you are still in the battle to loose weight
and pay attention to your consumption.
I had to empty my band and since it is now sitting a top
my stomach and not obstructing or affecting anything
I am somewhat back to “regular normal” no obstruction.
Since this happened I re-gained a lot of my weight because
I was not careful. I was only controlling certain aspects of my diet
but not all of them and not all of the time.
Look for options on how to have this corrected
as soon as possible. For me this means a trip to Tijuana
in Mexico where the cost of the procedure is less than
what I hear some insurance companies have as a co-pay.
My Reliance lap band has worked great for me
and I want to keep it. It has proven to be a great tool.
I had my original surgery in Phoenix, AZ with a great
surgeon Dr. Hilario Juarez., This guy has more experience
than all others surgeons I have met combined.
So now I have a couple of goals to accomplish:
a.- keep my weigh under control
b.- avoid acerbating my band now
c.- obtain $ 4,689.79 for procedure and transport
d.- learn how to avoid this from happening again.
e.- Stay Positive
Why am I so readily wiling to go trough this process again?
Because it is like a savings account..
It works as hard as I work.
After all it is up to me or as I like to put it
to others: ” If it is to be it is up to me “
Gang I hope none of you ever have to
go trough this as it can get very bad, very expensive, very quick.
All the best to you all.
